The Best Goalless Games in EURO, when both Goalies were Heroes

A number of goalless games in EURO deserve better credit as they mark the top form of both goalkeepers. Goalless games are probably considered the dullest part of football. In every tournament or competition, there is bound to be one or more. Naturally, such matches never attract fans, as most would see how both sides missed shots on goals or spurned chances. However, the stalemate could also demonstrate how goalkeepers from both sides were in top form and almost equally denied the shots to keep the clean sheets. In short, some goalless games are not about the duels of forwards but the contests of the defenders on both ends of the backline, but the goalkeepers’ show. In EURO 2024, three games have resulted in a stalemate. Two of which are in the final games of Group C, when both clashes saw no goals at all. Yet, both England vs. Slovenia and Denmark vs. Serbia are not regarded as the best goalless games since both goalies’ saves were not dominant. Such matches are rare. Here ...

Great Footballers who never played in the EURO

A number of great footballers in the past never had a chance to play in the UEFA EURO Championship in their careers. EURO is one of the major international competitions that are seen as important as the FIFA World Cup, especially for Europeans. It is a top-tier international tournament, and each player expects to make an appearance there at least once in their life. However, there have always been unlucky names who missed the competition. Surprisingly, they were the great players of their time. One of them was even a World Cup winner. Today, there is Erling Haaland, who has yet to lead his country, Norway , to qualify for any major tournaments, including EURO. Check out the other unfortunate top footballers who missed EURO (since its modern tournament format in 1980) in their playing careers. Roy Keane (Rep. of Ireland) He was one of the most legendary players at Manchester United and one of the top figures in the Republic of Ireland during his playing years. Keane was th...

Top Barcelona Stars signed from Espanyol

More than 40 players were snatched by Barcelona from their city rival, Espanyol, for their first team, but only a few eventually thrived. Barcelona and RC Espanyol have been rivals for years, but it does not stop both sides from swapping players. Blaugrana did release more of their stars to their fellow Catalan side, but not exactly the opposite. Former Danish international Martin Braithwaite was the last one to play regularly for Espanyol in the 2022/23 season. This season, however, Hans Flick’s side does the opposite by signing Espanyol’s brightest talent last season, Joan Garcia. He was La Liga’s best shot stopper last season despite only helping his team finish at the lower table. In fact, Garcia is seemingly prepared to take up the number one spot from the club’s captain, Marc Ter Stegen. The German goalie has fallen out of favour under Hans Flick since his attitude ahead of the second leg of the UCL semifinal against Inter Milan last season. Should Garcia be able to p...
